The base interface of the software is much the same as RPG Maker VX Ace. Not a whole lot has changed on the surface, mind you. Now they are legitimate releases, through Steam and the like, and RPG Maker MV is the best effort to date. I messed around with the illegal translations of the early RPG Makers (mostly RPG Maker XP) before the developer/ publisher, Enterbrain, localised them for the western audience. I love the Hatsune Miku software because people can actually participate in creating music using that angel's voice, rather than just rock out to it or play the games (and I can now check off my obligatory Miku mention on DDNet for the week).Īnd I have loved RPG Maker since I was a child because the idea of building your own "Final Fantasy" has always been an intensely compelling one.

I love Tyranobuilder because it lets people make their own visual novels. I love anything that encourages people to be creative and get "hands on" with their favourite hobbies, rather than being passive consumers of it. I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it. Scripting system is based on the Ruby programming language, so that's what you want to learn if you want to make custom code.I love RPG Maker.

There are some scripts, such as Advanced Text Series and others that deal with the subject. u/Should_You_Play_It has good advice on messaging options. That way, you can trigger scene after scene from one event to the next. (Try searching on YouTube a bit, or the START HERE! thread for Humble Bundlers at the top of the subreddit as it contains a lot of tutorial resources for new developers.) Switches/variables to remember quest conditions work for remembering dialogue choices too.

The event tutorials probably won't be geared to reproducing what you want to do, but it will teach you how to get started in the part of the system you want to use. You'll probably want to make a new game start you right in the first event and never let the player get away from it so they stay in the intended environment.

(You need to add your art to the database, window accessed with the F10 key.) Try focusing on tutorials for eventing and common events. You mean like, a bishojo type game or something similar? You should be able to do that with events, particularly with creative use of show and erase picture commands. Also if you know any guides or tutorials on visual novels in general not just limited to RPG Maker that would also be appreciated.

Videos preferably because I can't really take in information if I'm reading it on a pc screen. If you know any good guides anywhere that would be awesome. My point being it's just trying to find resources to how to learn how to use the engine is what I'm trying to achieve. I study game development in college and I've used Unit圓D, Pygame, and GameMaker before. Now I am not a complete noob in this area at all. You know, a map you can walk around in, loot stuff, and turn based combat, which is not what I'm looking for at all. Most of them focus on the kind of gameplay the program encourages you to start in. I can't seem to find any sufficient tutorials on YouTube. I'd like to make a visual novel of sorts but I don't really know where to begin. I've played a few games online made by the engine and I'm pretty impressed. Hi there! I recently bought RPG Maker VX Ace during the Steam Summer sales.
